About Me

My photo
We are now in Oz after two amazing years of traveling Europe in our home built plane. We met many fantastic people who we are proud to call friends and have gained a much better understanding of the similarities and differences between the cultures of the different European states as well as the history and geography that have lead to these differences. We enjoy meeting people with similar interests to ourselves and learning more about other cultures. Please let us know if you're going to be in Queensland and would like to catch up for a meal and a chat.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber airfield review

I really cannot recommend Rothenburg ob der Tauber airfield highly enough.  Where would you like me to start: with the friendly people; the 2-3km walk into the stunning medieval walled city; the wood fired pizzas at the on-site pizzeria; or the most reasonable fees (around 4-5€ per landing)?

If you are only going to make it to one airfield in Germany, I would probably make it this one, as it just has it all.  Hmm I suppose except for asphalt if your plane requires that.

Another great thing about this airfield is that it is owned privately by the club, which means that no matter what happens in the area it's safe from developers' sticky fingers.  Fabulous.  Go there.

Ambience 10/10
Friendliness 10/10
Location 10/10
Costs: €6 landing, parking over 10h €4.50

Header frustrations in Blogger

Can anyone explain to me why the above header photo which looks perfectly normal and high quality when opened as a photo from my hard drive, now at exactly the same size looks all pixelated????  You may remember my previous photo, a massive picture of the Swiss Alps which for all its size down sides certainly didn't have this issue.

And while I'm at it, why can't I keep in my title if I don't want title and description tramping all over my header picture?  And why is it that if I do click ok for title over my picture, my picture then is resized to miniture size and I'm left with a whole heap of white background before my posts start????

Any helpful hints would be most gratefully received.

Update on our progress

We're currently in Australia taking a hiatus from our travels, enjoying the blinding Australian sun whilst waiting for the European weather to warm up again.  I'm still about a month behind on posting, so keep an eye out for the rest of Germany (that we saw anyway!), Switzerland and France.  Plus the dramatic voyage home in the early December snows.

Our current plan is to return to Europe and finally do the sunny nights fly-in in northern Finland that was my motivation to hurry up the build of the plane, but we weren't quite ready in time for, then to stroll on down maybe through western Sweden and eastern Germany, Austria and Croatia to Italy.  As usual we will end up arriving in different places to where we set out to see, but hopefully we will continue meeting fantastic people, like the ones we've been so lucky to meet so far.
